Simple Beauty Routines That Actually Stick
Everyone has some types of beauty routines — whether it’s washing your face daily, always having chapstick on hand, or going full glam.
While beauty routines aren’t necessarily essential, they serve a greater purpose: confidence. And confidence is key. You deserve to feel like you’re hot shit, quite frankly.
The problem is, when life gets hectic, these routines are usually the first thing to go. That’s why it’s all about having systems in place — you’re not relying on motivation, you’re relying on structure. You can read more about in The Personal Systems That Build a Stable Life, but here’s what it actually looks like in practice.
Here’s my routine — simple, realistic, and built to stay consistent.
Daily: Keep It Simple
My daily routine is one thing: skincare — and it’s non-negotiable.
Every night before bed, I go through the same 3 steps. It takes less than 5 minutes, but the consistency has made a huge difference. My skin is clearer, my blackheads have decreased, and I just feel more put together. I’ve been so consistent that I actually have to restock my products now — which used to take me forever to finish, if I’m being honest.
There’s so much noise online about needing 15 serums and a 12-step routine, but the main idea here is sustainability. If it’s not easy to maintain, it won’t last. I break down exactly what I use in Building A Skincare Routine.
Weekly: Maintenance & Reset
This is where the rest of my routine falls into place — hair, nails, and a little extra skincare.
I have 3b curly hair, so I wash it once a week. The first few days it’s typically out, and later in the week I’ll transition into ponytails or buns. To keep it maintained, I sleep with a bonnet, use hair oils, and refresh with water or a spray when needed. Wash days honestly make me feel like I can accomplish anything — there’s something about a fresh, clean scalp that just resets everything.
I also try to do a face mask once a week. It’s my low-effort spa moment at home. I love the Egyptian clay mask because it doubles as a hair mask too — anything multifunctional just makes sense. One tip: don’t let dry to the point of cracking before you rinse. Your skin and your bathroom sink will thank you!
And then there’s nails. I’ve been a press-on girl for years, but recently switched to Gel-X. Press-ons lasted me about a week, so I was switching sets constantly. With Gel-X, I’ve had the same tips for a month — I just do a fill every 2 weeks to keep them looking fresh and out of my hair (literally). It takes me about 4+ hours right now since I’m still a beginner, but the payoff is totally worth it. Honestly, seeing the improvement with each set is its own reward.
Monthly: Convenience Over Perfection
Every 6 weeks, I get waxed — eyebrows, upper lip, and Brazilian.
I used to go to two different waxers to save money, but now I do it all in one place. It costs about $30 more per session, but getting everything done in 20 minutes and moving on with my day? Worth it. That said, I know $100+ waxing appointments aren’t realistic for everyone — there are always alternatives like DIY waxing, local specials, or spacing appointments out more. As for shaving legs and underarms, that’s on an as-needed basis. Seasonal, if you’d say.

Why Self-Care Actually Matters
Self-care has a ripple effect. When you take care of yourself, you show up differently — not just physically, but mentally. There’s more confidence, more intention, and more self-respect in how you carry yourself.
Unlock the Unwavering
If the resonated, start small:
Pick one area: skin, hair, nails
Choose one habit that feels manageable: wash your face every night, use hair oils
Commit to it for a week and see how it fits into your life
